Perfect timing

This weekend, I am going to a scrapbooking retreat with some of my old friends from Illinois. Even though I am always hesitant to commit to a weekend away, I always come back refreshed. I think this weekend's timing couldn't be any more perfect as my nerves have been rather frayed in the past week or two. I love my children dearly, but I can say I don't feel one ounce of guilt sneaking away this weekend.

I'm taking a couple of mini-album/altering projects with me this weekend as I didn't really have time to plan pages in advance. Hopefully it will be as productive as it will be fun to catch up with my old gang!

Safety in numbers

I am mentally drained this afternoon. Last week, I wrote about how Kyra has definitely hit the terrible twos in stride. Today, we have hit an all new level of two-ness. We hosted our weekly playgroup today and all morning, she was excited that her friends were coming over. Heck, she was waiting by the window at the front door at 7:30! Of course, then said friends came over and I guess in Kyra's mind, having friends over does not mean that you have to share your toys with them! Needless to say, she spent most, if not all, of the two hours in hysterics and temper tantrum. Even after attempting several "time outs", she could not be calmed down so I left her to cry/kick/scream it out for herself.

I sure am glad my mommy friends were here because I seriously was ready to trhow her outside. Thanks to Misses M., J., M., N., T., and T. for keeping me sane this morning despite the circumstances! They keep telling me that this, too, shall pass, but I'm still trying to find my sea legs on this adventure!

It's ALL Good!

The Happiest Day in this Bears' Fan's Life

Et tu, potty!

Any mom of a young boy has probably had to ask said young boy if he needs to use the "facilities" when you see him squirming in his seat. For us, it is always a challenge with Ian because he becomes so engrossed in what he is doing that he ignores that feeling and then will go shooting off like a rocket until he can absolutely, positively not hold it in for one second longer.

Of course, it frustrates me to no end to see him wiggling like that, but this morning at Bible study, the lesson was so interesting to me that I had a similar experience. Even though I had to go, I didn't want to get up and leave and "miss something." As a result, the second the study ended, I shot out the door. I guess I don't have the right to get frustrated with Ian anymore!

Terrible 2s is RIGHT!

I remember when Ian was little that I didn't think 2 was such a bad age. He didn't really start working me until he hit 3. Ms. Kyra, on the other hand, is another story. Let's just say the past week she has been "getting all 2" on me. I'm trying to be patient and stand my ground though. I just keep chanting "it's only a phase, it's only a phase, it's only a phase." Maybe if I say it enough I will actually believe it and not want to sell her to the lowest bidder! If anyone has seen my "sweet" baby girl anywhere, please send her back to me!
