A Contact Sport?

Proving that I am really behind the times, I received a call from the school health assistant this afternoon. Apparently Ian was involved in a playground "altercation" (to which he was not the aggressor). He fell down and hit his head and has a slight bump. I was glad the school called to inform me and Ms. A felt that he was acting fine and was back at class.

When Ian came home, I asked him what happened and he told me he got knocked down getting someone "out" in a game but he was feeling better. I figured it was dodgeball or something like that. No, further proving how "old fashioned" I am, apparently these days, four-square is a contact sport! Lord, please help me!

Another reminder that I am getting old

Yesterday at Ian's birthday party, it was time for the cake and singing of happy birthday. Apparently, the number of candles you leave lit when you make your wish is the number of girlfriends you have (Ian has 2 if this is to be believed). Has anyone else ever heard of this? Either I am (a) living under a rock, (b) reaching a new age of pre-teen motherhood or (c)getting old!

Another "I'm officially old" moment

This morning, I was getting Ian's breakfast ready while he was sitting at the island in our kitchen. He ran out of vitamins last week, so I just picked up a bottle of Flinstones sour gummy vitamins on one of my trips to Wal-Mart. I think his last bottle was Curious George and the time before that was Spiderman. Anyhow, he looks at the vitamin and then says "What is this?" and I told him it was his vitamin which subsequently got me the "duh" look. He asked me who it was and I told him it was Fred Flinstone to which he replied "who's that?" And I had to think about it but then I realized he probably never has seen the Flinstones. I see some Boomerang in our future!
